About Us


Centre for Capacity Improvement for the Wellbeing of the Vulnerable (CIWED) started as a community-based organisation in 2013 with the aim to empower  women to gain economic independent, so it started mobilizing women and young people especially young mothers to discuss common issues affecting them. The organisation later initiated Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), encouraging women and young people to do savings that will help them establish Small-scale Businesses to generate income for themselves and their families. In 2016, the Board, management, staff and volunteers facilitated restructuring of the organisation to elevate it to a local Non-governmental Organisation based on the experiences gained from the years back. The organisation has since being registered with the Registrar General Department and Department of Social Welfare
